LUMBER
Most lumber in the country is sold under a grading system
developed by the National Hardwood Lumber Association
(NHLA). The primary focus of the grading system is to
establish the area of clear face cutting in each board. The best
grade is FAS (First and Seconds) which yields the largest
percent of clear wood. Our lumber is hand picked FAS, kiln
dried and dressed to our specifications
PLYWOOD
The plywood used for casework is all premium cabinet grade.
Although many manufacturers use 1/2" plywood, we always
use 3/4" casework material. This enhances the stability and
strength of the cabinetry, and meets the highest standards for
premium custom cabinetry.
STORAGE
Our materials storage area is climate controlled to preserve
the correct moisture content.
HARDWARE
At Contemporary Kitchens, we bring only the highest quality
components to each of our cabinets. Industry standards and
years of practical experience have set the benchmark for most
of our hardware products.

All of our hinges and most of our drawer slides
are from Blum, an industry leader in quality and innovation. All
Blum hardware is guaranteed for life. We use ball-bearing
slides for interior pullout drawers from Knape & Vogt, another
industry leader.

Storage & organizational components are key to today's
functional kitchen. We construct many organizational
components, such as double utensil drawers and spice racks,
ourselves. For items like carousels and slide-out pantry units,
we use Rev-a-shelf.

FINISHES
The stains, glazes and finishes we use from M.L. Campbell
are the most advanced wood finishing systems available to
cabinet manufacturers. The new generation of post-catalyzed
conversion varnish offers the ultimate in durability. It is a high-
solids, non-yellowing water-white formula, specifically
designed for wood surfaces exposed to extreme moisture or
household chemicals. Our clear coat offers excellent mar and
scratch resistance, meets AWI TR-6 performance standards
for chemical and moisture resistance, and meets KCMA
moisture resistance standards. Our finishers have over 25
years experience and are M. L. Campbell-trained. The
finishing facility at Contemporary Kitchens is isolated, filtered
and climate controlled. These combined elements allow us to
produce finishes of unparalleled durability and beauty.
